AIIPC, Hon FPSG, ASIIPC, Diamond Grade Exhibitor

( 20. 06.1946 - 05. 05. 2020 )

With profound grief,  I write about the sad and sudden demise of our dear colleague and Life member of IIPC Mr. A. Samad Khan. He was born on 20th June, 1946 in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, He was an ace mechanical draftsman and a Laser work artist. He joined India International Photographic Council as an individual member in the year 1990 and two years later converted to a Life membership. He remained a staunch supporter of the council till his last breath. Mr. Khan had retired from the office of Botanical survey of India in the year 1998 as a senior photographer.

He was deeply interested in many different branches of photography since early days and seriously started photography way back early 60’s and became an excellent photographer. His main interest was in Travel, Journalism, Nature and pictorial Photography and he exhibited his work in National and International salons in India and Abroad. He had over 700 Acceptances to his credit and over 80 Awards from around the globe which is a great achievement in itself.

Mr. Samad Khan was the founder and President of Suncity Photographic Society, Jodhpur till April 2011. During his tenure as the President two IIPC International Workshops and Conferences were organized by him at Jodhpur and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. He was currently an Executive Committee member of Council and dedicated more of his time for photography and activities of the council. He had judged several photographic competitions and salons as a member of the jury. The Jodhana Photo Journalist Society of Jodhpur had honored Mr. Khan with its Life Time Achievement Award and the India International Photographic council had conferred upon him its coveted AIIPC honor in the year 2005 for his excellent pictorial work. Another International photographic body from our neighboring country Pakistan, “The Pakistan Salon Group” headed by great master late Mr. Aftab Ahmed Khan, conferred its Honorary Fellowship Hon FPSG on Mr. Samad Khan in the year 2007.

IIPC conferred one of its highest international honor Associateship For Services Award in the year 2018 on Mr. A. Samad Khan. ASIIPC was conferred for his dedicated services in the field of photography on National and International basis and for serving IIPC for over 30 years.

We knew him since 1980’s when he came in contact with us. He was a simple man and had a charming personality. He was always ready to help others without expecting anything. He had served IIPC for many years as in the capacity of an Executive Committee member, Member of the Jury, Divisional Chairman for Photo-Travel division, Workshop organizer and Print Circuit chairman for Jodhpur circuit.

For the advancement of photography he organized workshops and outings in Rajasthan which benefited a large number of people interested in various branches of photography. He helped many IIPC members who visited Rajasthan all these years and gave his valuable advice as he was quiet well traveled himself.

His efforts and dedication were appreciated and valued by most of us who knew him well.

Since he joined IIPC, he was deeply concerned for the welfare of the council and always lent a helping hand for any work regarding the betterment of the council with constructive suggestions. He will be fondly remembered for all his dedication, hard work and loyalty.

In his passing the council has lost a loyal, faithful life member and a strong pillar. He passed away on 05th January, 2020 in his sleep. He had not been keeping good health since last one year. On behalf of IIPC, I convey heartfelt condolences to his wife as well as other family members. We pray to the Almighty to rest his noble soul in eternal peace.
